The First Line - Open for Submissions
The First Line is open for submissions to their Fall issue. The first line that you must use to begin your story is "Fifty miles west of Bloomington lies Hillsboro, a monument to middle-class malaise.". Stories should be 300 to 5000 words in any genre. The deadline is August 1 and payment is $25 to $50. You can find all the details here.
