Gone Already?

Well, that was quick! La Criminophile has left the building. Clicking on the link brings up the message: this blog has been removed. We never did find out who was behind this splendid idea and I, for one, am very sorry to see it gone. I was hoping for a place where the dark stories that women write could find a home.

In general, I don't like the idea of excluding a gender. Still, possibly an interesting experiment. Maybe our mystery blogger will try again.

Welcome to the Corner, Manuel! I think the new zine was in response to markets like Plots With Guns, who for issue after issue only publish male writers.

I know that it all boils down to the tastes of the editor and the quality of the stories submitted, but for some reason, noir written by women seems to get passed over.

Even Otto Penzler's "Best American Noir of the Century" contained only one story by a female author.

Yeah, it's a pet peeve of mine :) and I do hope they'll try again.

What a cruel joke. And I am convinced it was.

It does feel that way, doesn't it, Patti? This happened once before with a horror zine that was looking to publish only female writers. I think next time, I'll wait for them to get off the ground before I link.

I had such hope for this one
